Going to War

From FaitH

Going to war is probably the most important part of FaitH. This is not only because it is the most fun part, but because it is also extremely useful. It is extremely rare for the winning kindom of any era not to be one of the highest ranking kingdoms for war wins. Indeed, it is usually a better gauge for success than Power Score when looking at kingdom rankings.

The benefits from going to war include:

  • Gaining spoils from war (Gold, peasants, Children of Targar)
  • Damaging your enemies (Because they lose units, peasants and Children of Targar)
  • Gaining ChaoS! Points

Whilst war is not vital for growth, it can be extremely helpful, and is mostly important for the gain of children of targar and of ChaoS! points.

How to go to war

This first section is a brief description of how to go to war. Please note that this section specifically deals with the mechanics of sending your troops out. The sections that follow will deal with the more complicated, and more important, details, such as how to make sure that you win your war.

  1. Put your units on your generals.
    1. Press the "armies" menu button, then the "arrange" button.
      • You will see a list of all your units, how many you have and where they are.
      • Units can either be on a general, or in your castle defence.
    2. Select which units you want to move.
      • Use the drop down menus to select unit type and where they are currently located (Source).
      • Use the white box next to the unit type menu to select how many you want to move.
        • To move all of them, insert "a" into this box.
      • If you are using internet explorer, you can select the units you want to move quickly.
        • Press the number in the "owned" column to select all of this unit.
    3. Select the general you wish to move them to in the drop down menu.
    4. Press the "transfer" button
    5. Repeat this until all of your units are on your generals.
  1. Send your troops to attack
    1. Press the "politics" menu button, then the "war" button.
    2. Select your target
      • Enter the land and kingdom number of your target into the white boxes at the top.
      • Press the "Change kingdom" button.
      • Select the name of your target from the drop down menu, just below the kingdom number boxes.
    3. Select the generals to send to war
      • Check the white box to the left of all of the generals that have your troops on.
        • Note: It's a good idea to double check you've selected ALL of your generals. It's easy to miss one every now and again, and you will surely lose the war if you do.
    4. Select your attack strategy from the drop down box.
      • Unless you have one of the follow Divine Powers you will only have "Normal" and "Kill Peasants":
        • Offensive Strategies: Toarwind Headslasher (Available to: Jack of all Trades, Warmaster)
        • Offensive Strategies: Alexander Bloodbath (Available to: War Master)
        • Abduct Children of Targar (Available to: Jack of all Trades)
    5. Select the direction to attack from the drop down box.
      • There is a tutorial on how to decide which direction to attack below.
    6. Select how many weeks to go for.
      • You will get 1 battle per week you attack for. More information below.
    7. Press the "Send your armies to war" button.

Your armies will now attack, according to how you have told them! The attacks will take 8-16 days to get there, 7 days per week beyond the first, and then 8-16 days to return. Now that you know how to attack, details on how to attack well will follow.

Setting up your Army

Army setup is very important for going to war. However, it is also different for every single church. Read the church specific guides to know how best to set up your army. Remember, if your army is badly setup, an army that is smaller than yours but well set up will come along and kick your ass.
