Exploring

Basic Overview
Most people send out the minimum required number of units to explore one hex per week. This is bad - you can do much better! Or, you could send out all your exploring units and have them all explore the same hex for that week and it will explore more than the one hex and go beyond it. For instance, I've known people who have set all 400 of their explorers to explore one hex on the first day of the era and after 1 FaitH week they reached their first chest. Always send enough explorers so that the returning number will be higher than the minimum number required. This will insure that when you send explorers to explore one hex they will end up exploring more than one. Details follow below

Five Hexes
- The minimum number of explorers required corresponds to the 'number of sectors' you already have explored (so on the battle server, the minimum you can send is different from the minimum that we talk about here).
- Say you send out 100 explorers for 7 days. Provided that you have less than 100 sectors already explored by the time that those explorers finish, you will explore 5 or more hexes (example, you have already explored 99 sectors). As long as you have more than the minimum number of explorers, you will get at least 5 hexes from them (assuming there are 5 hexes to explore)
- However, if you send out 100 explorers for 7 days, but have already explored 100 sectors, then you will only explore one hex.
- The point: You must send out enough explorers so that when they return, they outnumber the amount of hexes already explored. Therefore, when playing the RPG, never send the minimum amount, since they will only explore 1 hex. On the BS, this isn't much of a problem, because they force you to send out twice what we are calling the minimum.
- Caution: If you have multiple groups of explorers out, then you must consider that the first groups to finish exploring will add more hexes to the count, so that the later groups must have higher numbers to overcome this. Since there is a bit of randomness involved in exploration time, you should assume that each group you send out will explore 5 hexes, and make each group large enough to absorb the added hexes of the other groups.

Ten Hexes
- Exploring for longer amounts of time will obviously give you different amounts of hexes or sending many more (2x or 3x or 4x...) than the required minimum results in exploring more hexes. 10 hexes is the maximum amount of hexes that you can explore in one go(unless you have observatories).
- If you explore with the minimum amount required for 14 days, you will explore 10 hexes instead of 5.
- On the RPG, if you send seven times the minimum amount required for 7 days, you will also explore 10 hexes (for the BS, you must send 3.5 times the minimum required, which is 7 times the number of hexes you have already explored).

Twenty Hexes
- Observatories will, obviously, additionally increase the amount of hexes explored. 20 hexes is the maximum amount of hexes that you can explore with observatories.
- If you send enough explorers to explore 5 hexes (for 7 days) and have observatories, you should explore 10 hexes instead of 5.
- If you send enough explorers out to explore 10 hexes (14 days) and have observatories, you should explore 20 hexes instead of 10.

Random Notes
- Random PS and XP information:
- On RPG, you get approximately 18xp per hex explored. On BS, you get approximately 9.
- On RPG, you lose approximately 5 PS per hex explored (I'm unsure of the number for BS; it may be the same).
- The point: Exploring makes you leaner, while giving you more xp to level up!
